It happens to the best of us. We are going about our normal, everyday lives, when all of a sudden, we are presented with the opportunity to relocate our family. Maybe it is for a new career opportunity or a job promotion, or just to be closer to other family members. Whatever the reason, there is always much to consider before taking that leap.
So, you carefully evaluate the opportunity, and what it would mean to you and your family, and you realize that it is one you just can’t afford to pass up. You talk things over with your family, everyone agrees, and you begin preparing for the move ahead.
But, wait a second. It’s the middle of the holiday season. So, you think to yourself, “How is this going to work?”
Have no fear!
It just so happens that moving during the holidays is one of our specialties here at Oler Relo. Believe it or not, this can be one of our busiest times of the year in the moving industry. So, we are here to help you through your move every step of the way.
It doesn’t have to be extra stressful
First of all, moving during the holidays doesn’t have to be extra stressful. While moving has long been thought of as one of the most stressful times in a person’s life, moving during the holidays doesn’t have to add an extra level of stress to that equation. We know that you would rather be focused on the normal activities that typically surround you at this time of year. That’s why we pride ourselves in making your move as seamless as possible. As we like to say, leave the heavy lifting to us!
When you move with us, you move with family
“When you move with us, you move with family.” Those words are way more that a slogan to us. At Oler Relo, treating our customers like family is what we are all about! That has been the cornerstone of the way that we have conducted our business from the very beginning. As a family owned and operated moving company, we treat every customer the same as we would our own family. This is a principle that is at the heart of everything we do at Oler Relo. So, rest assured that we will make sure that your relocation experience is as easy and stress-free as possible, no matter the time of year.
Clean out and donate to a charitable cause or organization
One of the best things about moving during the holidays, is that it creates the perfect opportunity to clean out those drawers and closets that you’ve been neglecting. While doing so, you will see several items that may no longer be of use to you, but could be greatly appreciated by someone in need. There are many different charitable organizations that are in need of clothing, toys, canned goods and other items that you might be throwing out. This is a great way to dispose of those things, while doing something meaningful in the process.
Here are some good organizations to consider: Move for Hunger, Goodwill, and The Salvation Army.
Holiday lights and decorations
Depending on the timing of your move, and whether you have to prepare your home to be sold, your holiday decorations might need to be packed up instead of being displayed this year. Maybe you just have to have a more minimalistic approach to how you decorate your house this year. You could also keep a box of holiday decorations in a box that is in easy reach so that you can decorate your new home as soon as you get there.
And remember, this doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy looking at other people’s holiday decorations. It is always fun to get the family rounded up and into the car for a night time field trip to look at the holiday lights and decorations. Chances are, this is something you do every year anyway. And, it could be even more meaningful this year if it creates a memory of the first time you do it in your new city.
